Wyner, Gussie - still image [media]

Gussie Wyner, an early leader of Hadassah, created the idea of life membership in women's organizations. She is shown here in a photograph taken in July 1931, turning the first shovel of soil for a new maintenance building and power plant at Beth Israel Hospital, Boston. The building was paid for by the proceeds of the Life Membership Fund of the Beth Israel Women's Auxiliary, which she founded.
