Gifts of Stock
Donors may make gifts of appreciated securities. For more information on how to make the transfer, contact Catherine Clark, Director of Development, at .
Information needed for a prompt and accurate acknowledgement includes the following:
- Approximately the value we can expect and the type of stock and number of shares which will be transferred into our account, so we can look out for the gift.
- Date-of-transfer high/low value. The day that we receive the securities is not the "date of transfer"; rather, it is when the donor relinquishes control.
Donors may also make gifts of depreciated securities by having their brokerage sell their stock and forward Jewish Women's Archive the proceeds by check. The donor may have the benefit of declaring the loss for tax purposes, as well as receiving a tax-deduction for the gift.
