It's November 12, 1989: Mobilize for Women's Lives. Planned Parenthood, ACLU, League of Women Voters, NARAL—there must have been seven or eight women's organizations pooled their lists nationally to do a rally in Washington. And what we did was we did one in New Orleans, as well. And there is a group of us who, while we are not—that came together to do this rally—that are soul mates, even if we don't know much about each other's personal lives. I think anyone would take a knife for the other one. A bullet for the other one.
