Hi Gwen, I'm confused by your point about the money it takes to fly halfway across the world to discover one's roots. That seems obvious, and I don't think that really qualifies as a criticism of the show. I'm not a celebrity, but if I wanted to find ancestors in the old country (in my case, the former USSR), that would cost money. It's a personal project that would take place for little more than my own edification, so again, what's the problem here?

If it's the contrast between Kudrow and the people she meets, well, the same would apply to just about anyone from North America. We're all wealthy by their standards.

Just pointing that out does not a pop culture criticism make.
