Ernestine Schumann-Heink

Born Tini Rössler in Prague, contralto Ernestine Schumann-Heink had an unsuccessful debut in Dresden in 1878 but went on to become a Metropolitan Opera star with a repertory of 150 roles—and the mother of seven children.
