Ruth R. Goodman

Ruth R. Goodman, a native New Yorker, is the cofounder and director of the Israeli Dance Institute. Formerly editor of Hora and of Nirkoda, she is now an editor of Rokdim-Nirkoda magazine. Involved with the annual Israel Folk Dance Festival since 1969, she succeeded Fred Berk as its director in 1978. She is also the founder and director of the Parparim Ensemble of Israeli Dance and Song and has participated in numerous tours to Israel. She has conducted the various dance programs at the 92nd Street YM/YWHA in New York City and organized and conducted regional Jewish/Israeli dance workshops and seminars through the Israeli Dance Institute. Goodman holds a Master of Arts degree in Dance Education from Columbia University Teacher’s College and a B.Sc. in mathematics from The City College of New York, C.U.N.Y.
