Noreen Daniel

Noreen Daniel, a Bene Israel born in Bombay, is the granddaughter of a former mayor of that city and the daughter of leaders of the community. She has a Masters of Science from the Indian Cancer Research Center in Bombay. While in India she taught and did volunteer social work for the Bene Israel community in Ahmedabad and helped revitalize the synagogue there. Currently residing in New York City, she translates Marathi materials and serves as a consultant for scholars on Indian Jews and lectures for the “Women in Judaism “ program in synagogues. She also works with HIV-positive patients from Asian communities and translates English booklets and forms into Hindi.
