"I went on interviews. And one time I even thought I had a job, because they kept me there for two hours, they made me translate German patents on sight, and when they were done, they said, 'Well, we've never had a woman in the laboratory and we think you'd be a distracting influence. And that really broke me. I thought, 'This is over. I can't. I can't do this any more.'
