Rebecca Lesses, an assistant professor of Jewish studies at Ithaca College, New York, received her B.A., M.A. and Ph.D. in religion from Harvard University. She has published Ritual Practices to Gain Power: Angels, Incantations and Revelations in Early Jewish Mysticism (1998) and several articles on related topics.
