Enid Dame (d. 2003) was a poet, writer, editor and teacher who lived in Brooklyn and High Falls, New York. She received her Ph.D. from Rutgers University and then taught there and at the New Jersey Institute of Technology. She lectured on Jewish women’s poetry and midrashic writing at the Institute for Contemporary Midrash, for the Religious Diversity Seminars of the New Jersey Council for the Humanities and in other forums. She was co-editor of the anthology Which Lilith?: Feminist Writers Re-Create the World’s First Woman (1998). With her husband, the poet Donald Lev, she co-edited Home Planet News, a literary tabloid which the couple founded in 1979. She was also a member of the Editorial Collective of Bridges, a Jewish feminist magazine. Her poetry, which focused on women’s and Jewish themes, appeared in various journals and anthologies, as well as in seven collections of her work, including Lilith and Her Demons (1989), Anything You Don’t See (1992) and Stone Shekhina (2002).
