The CAP-JWA Personal Archive Project

The Jewish Women’s Archive (JWA) has been selected to participate in the 2011-12 Community Action Partners (CAP) Program, an affiliate of the Harvard Business School Association of Boston that includes some of the nation’s most respected business leaders. Beginning in October, a group of JWA Board and staff members will work with a CAP team to study the potential of developing self-service tools needed for users to digitize their own documents—including letters, clippings and photos—and store them on the Archive’s website.

In mid-October 2011 we sent out a request for volunteers that we could interview about interest in this service. We expected to get 40 or 50 responses. Instead, over 400 people volunteered to be interviewed! As the project develops, we will need feedback from ever-more people. The magnitude of the response suggests that there is a need here and that the Jewish Women's Archive may be the just the organization to address it.

If this idea is of interest, please sign up for the project mailing list. We will keep you informed as things progress.
