Tavi Gevinson

Proving the power of the internet to level the playing field, Tavi Gevinson launched her fashion blog Style Rookie at age eleven and was lauded by Forbes at age fifteen for the massive audience her feminist commentary had garnered. Gevinson began writing about her own style and her views of fashion trends in 2008, the same year she acted in her first short film, First Bass. She wrote articles for noted magazines including Harper’s Bazaar, and covered Fashion Week in both New York and Paris, standing up to fashion commentators who thought she was too young to have anything to say. In 2011 she shifted her focus from fashion to feminism, launching a new site, Rookie, with articles written by teenage girls on a wide range of subjects from politics to body image. She has been honored as one of Forbes’s 30 Under 30 in both 2011 and 2012 and Time’s 25 Most Influential Teens in 2014. Her acting career has run parallel to her writing, with roles in several movies as well as her 2014 debut on Broadway in This Is Our Youth and the 2016 revival of The Crucible.
