[View Details](/media/regina-persisted-book-cover) I recently had the opportunity to interview Rabbi Sandy Sasso about her [2018 children's book](https://www.indiebound.org/book/9781681155401) about the world’s first woman rabbi. Regina Jonas was ordained in Germany in 1935, and served as a rabbi in Berlin and at the Terezin concentration camp. In 1944, she was murdered in Auschwitz, and her story was all but forgotten. Watch our conversation here, and hear how Rabbi Sasso was inspired by Regina Jonas and decided to share her story with a new generation. You can also learn more about Regina Jonas in JWA’s *[Women Rabbis](/rabbis/regina-jonas-remembered)* collection, and use JWA's resources and Rabbi Sasso's book to commemorate Regina Jonas's yahrzeit on Shabbat Bereishit. Regina Persisted *is one of JWA's [2018-2019 Book List](/programs/bookclub/bookshelf) picks.* Topics: [Rabbis](/topics/rabbis), [Fiction](/topics/fiction) 1 Comment You must have JavaScript enabled to use this form.
