Janna Kaplan, a young scientist who worked in Russia’s space program recalled why she decided to emigrate: &ldquoI had ideas; I had plans. But every time I would follow them, I had roadblocks, either because I was a woman or because I was a Jew, usually both.” The government supported not only anti-Semitism but also sexual harassment.
