December 2, 1991, Dear Prof. Elion, Your immense contributions in medical researches to the benefit of mankind have compelled me to send you this card. I only came to know you through TDR news of June '91; since then you have been my inspiration. Born in 1958, I have been struggling to attain the peak of academics even though an orphan right from birth. I obtained a Diploma in Food Technology in 1982, a Bachelor's degree in Pharmacy in 1989, and just completed a Master's degree programme in Pharmacology this year. My life is totally committed to scientific research, especially in area of malaria. My orientation is towards biochemical pharmacology and toxicology.Permit me at this point to call you mother (because my own mum was also born in 1918)! I shall always like to be in touch with you if you so wish. Kindly accept from the bottom of my heart lots of love and good wishes for the many years ahead. Above all stay healthy. Happy Xmas. Yours, Babi E. Emmanuel
