My own dear Ones: -


It is about half-past eleven o'clock and I have been here almost an hour. This morning when I awoke I found it dark and rainy and thought it was best to come up early, as it was not raining hard. It is so disagreeably gloomy & sultry that it is enough to give one the blues. However, by this time, I have become callous to such influences. Several of the girls have left already for vacation and I envy, just a little, those who are going home. Guess by this time you have

received my letter of Friday. I was sorry I didn't have more time then. I forgot one thing which I wanted particularly wanted to say:- that the little cape came Friday, Uncle Joe. Again let me thank you. It is so pretty! I'm glad you like the dresses, Mamma. I knew you would.

I am so sorry I forgot about about your anniversary. But it isn't too late yet to send heartiest congratulations and thanks. I think I saw a sample of the much-admired gray waist at Cousin Mattie's. It must be very giddy to create so much excitement.

whistles reached Goldsboro yet? Mannie said he'd try to find one for me to send you. They are very funny.

Since Friday I haven't been doing much. I was somewhat tired Friday night, so we went to bed early & got up very late. Cousin Mattie started out a little before I did, to hear an art lecture at the Museum of Art, and got back later than I did from Temple. In the afternoon she took Tante Regina and Cousin Hattie to German Theatre, but I stayed at home, as I knew I shouldn't enjoy it much. They got back in time for me to go with Cousin M. for a walk on Madison Ave., which was delightful, the weather

being so fine. Really it was almost like a spring day. Last night we played anagrams, at which I actually beat Mannie and Uncle Albert. The latter went down town this morning to see a man, so I have seen little of him. I'll be able to have more of that pleasure during Easter vacation. We have from Wednesday to Wednesday.

How is Pesach agreeing with you all? I miss it so much. It seemed queer not to have Sedah (how do you spell it?) at all. Uncle Albert & I were planning about having it together in his house in several (?) years. I got a package of matzohs already last week and have already opened them. Is home-

made jelly yontoftic? I guess you'll laugh at my Hebrew spelling. If you can't make it out, pronounce it as it is spelt, then close your eyes & say it out loud. How do you like matzos, Jan? Are you old enough now to be kosha this year? You needn't be jealous of New York. I'm coming to Golsboro as soon as I can – by the very first train that starts after school stops. Then won't we have a good time. We'll play with the tin-things if they are not all smashed up by that time. Why, certainly you can get them from the

attic: What is your favorite game now? You must be getting very smart at the Kindergarten. You'll know almost too much for me to talk to you. If Susie hasn't begun on "numbers" yet, ask Brother Herman how many days it is between March the twenty-ninth and June the fourth.
