"Emma Goldman, High Priestess of Anarchy, Whose Speeches Inspired Czolgosz to his Crime" Article Demonizing Emma Goldman After the Assassination of President McKinley

Following the assassination of President McKinley, Goldman was widely demonized in the press for having allegedly inspired Leon Czolgosz to his crime. Sensationalized articles fueled widespread fear of anarchists and prompted Goldman to retreat somewhat from the public spotlight. Over the next few years, she periodically adopted the name "Miss E.G. Smith" in an attempt to escape public notice. This article from the Chicago Daily Tribune includes one of the most frightening visual representations of Goldman, who appears here either burning in hell for her actions or as an associate of the devil.
