Beatrice Alexander Recalls Her 1923 Move Into Business, 1978

Beatrice Alexander discusses her entrepreneurship, and recalls her 1923 move into business for herself, 1978.

Alexander, Beatrice
Date / time
"When my child was ten years old, I made my first step into the commercial field. My little daughter Mildred was the inspiration for my first commercial baby doll. We called her Billie and this is how the Alexander Doll began. Throughout the passing years, the style and composition of my dolls have changed. But one thing remains the same. The doll must be sturdy and beautiful. I agree with John Keats when he said, 'A thing of beauty is a joy forever."
