Melissa Weininger

Melissa Weininger is the Anna Smith Fine Lecturer in Jewish Studies and Associate Director of the Program in Jewish Studies at Rice University. She researches and writes about modern Hebrew and Yiddish literature, especially contemporary Israeli literature written in and about diaspora.

Ronit Matalon was an Israeli writer of Egyptian heritage who wrote and published in Hebrew. She was the author of numerous works of fiction and essays and worked for many years as a journalist. Her work touches on Mizrahi identity, family, gender, and politics, and incorporates visual elements as well as cultural criticism.

Ayelet Tsabari

Ayelet Tsabari is a Canadian-Israeli writer of Yemeni heritage who writes and publishes in English. She is the author of a book of short stories and a memoir, both of which touch on the subjects of Mizrahi Jewish identity, Israel, migration and diaspora, gender, race, and cultural belonging.
