Norman Simms

Norman Simms, an associate professor of English at Waikato University in Hamilton, New Zealand, was born in Brooklyn, New York on July 4, 1940. In 1970, after several years in Canada, he moved to Hamilton, New Zealand where he ran the Waikato Jewish Studies Seminar. He became an Israeli citizen in 1995.

Jews in New Zealand have always been a tiny minority, and while their actual numbers grew in the last years of the nineteenth century, particularly through migration from South Africa and the countries of the former Soviet bloc, their percentage in the total population steadily shrinks.
