Elly Bulkin

Elly Bulkin is coauthor, with Minnie Bruce Pratt and Barbara Smith, of Yours in Struggle: Three Feminist Perspectives on Anti-Semitism and Racism. She edited Lesbian Fiction: An Anthology and co-edited, with Joan Larkin, Amazon Poetry and Lesbian Poetry: An Anthology. She was a founding editor of Conditions: A Magazine of Writing by Women with an Emphasis on Writing by Lesbians and of Bridges: A Journal for Jewish Feminists and Our Friends. She is author of “Jews, Blacks, and Lesbian Teens in the 1940s: Jo Sinclair’s The Changelings and ‘The Long Moment’.”

Drawing on the traditional Jewish values of justice and repair of the world and insights honed by the feminist, lesbian and gay movements, seven Jewish women began to publish Bridges: A Journal for Jewish Feminists and Our Friends in 1990.
