Avivit Ashman

2020-21 Rising Voices Fellow Dodie Altman-Sagan

Avivit Ashman is a junior at Phillips Academy Andover, where she is on the board of the Jewish Student Union, founder and co-leader of her school's white anti-racist education group, co-founder of this year's trans affinity group, and proctor of her school's first all-gender dorm. She is also on the student advisory board for the Brace Center for Gender Studies, which does work around gender equity, gender-based violence, and sex-positivity on campus. Outside of school, you can find Avivit writing short stories, learning Hebrew, listening to Ezra Furman, watching Israeli dramas, or rereading the Harry Potter books for the hundredth time.
