A Stokes scholar has corrected our listing the place of Stokes' arrest in 1918 as Kansas City, MO. Stokes was actually arrested and interrogated by the FBI in Willow Springs, MO on March 23, 1918 (not March 22). Her letter was printed in the Kansas City Star, where she wrote, "No government which is for the profiteers can also be for the people, and I am for the people, while the government is for the profiteers.Ì¢‰âÂå.
