I did the interview with Sylvia Sidney for FILMFAX Magazine. Present with her was her then publicist, John Springer. I was fascinated by this woman. She was witty, feisty, sarcastic, acerbic... and she chain-smoked throughout the interview... She stunned me when she said that Director WILLIAM WYLER was a CUTTER and not a good director. She stated he always did many takes (during "DEAD END") and later he merely selected the take he liked. There is more I can say about her if you wish....
