Hello, I want to ask permission to use the beautiful photograph of Madame Ernistine Schumann Heink with verticle handwriting on the left side.
I would like to include the photo in a story that my grandfather, General Leigh R. Gignilliat, wrote titled, "School Boy Epic Supreme," about the Logansport, Indiana flood of 1913.
Here is a one quote from the beginning of the story:
"The storm broke in all its fury the night that Madame Ernistine Schumann Heink came to Culver to sing to the Cadets. While outside the rain poured and there were flashes of lightning and great rolls of thunder; she sang to them, and in competition with the element, enthralled them with her glorious voice and marvelous personality."
I can be reached at john@bearpad.com or at John Gignilliat, PO Box 492, Swansboro, NC 28584. I could forward the complete eight page story, if you wish.
Thank you for expected prompt reply to this request.
