This book is now out in French; it can be purchased through Amazon.fr. It is a wonderful evocation of Ida Rubinstein's life and ongoing artistic quests that is a pleasure to read. Friedman's prose is rich and moving, his sensitivity to his subject evident on every page. The reader enters Ida's world fully and experiences with her her artistic visions and spiritual aspirations. This would be a delight to read for anyone interested in the life of an artist, the role of a Jewish woman in the Paris art world, or simply the story of a personal quest for fulfillment.
