Great post, and great encylopedia! I just want to point out one error: Sultan Fatih Mehmet conquered Constantinople in 1453 changed the name to Istanbul. True, it wasn't officially changed until the 1930s, so technially the post is correct to say La Senora lived in Constantinople. But I think clearly this needs some editing to reflect that the city is now Istanbul.
I think what the West doesn't realize is how hurtful such casual references to the Ottoman capital as "Constantinople" can be. Using the Byzantine name is considered by many Turks a way for Christians to undermine, dismiss or ignore the fact that the city has been under Muslim rule for more than five centuries.
Surely as Jews who, 60-plus years after the creation of Israel still have to hear it referred to as "Palestine" by those with an agenda, can empathize. I'd appreciate the change. Tx!
