The cornmill in Jerusalem was built in 1857-58 by the Millwrights Holman from Canterbury and ordered by the husband of Judith, Sir Moses Haim Montefiore. The neighborhood, now called Yemin Moshe, was the first extension of the city outside the walls. The location is very beautifull and carefully found by the Montefiore's. They both traveled several times together in the middle east to support the Jewish communities and the living conditions of them.

The cornmill west of the old city on top of the hill, overlooking Mount Sion, will be reconstructed in 2012, starting mid April. The initiative came from the board of the Dutch Christians for Israel organisation early 2007. The funding is from Dutch and Israel sources. Judith was present at the building site when the first stone was laid of the tower in May 1857. May the people of Israel enjoy the rebirth of this well-known monument and the kind support of the Dutch Christians.
