The comment that Golda Meir climbed the ladder for women then pulled it up is just nonsense, written by an ideologue who doesn't have any character or experience.
First and foremost, Golda was a woman who cared deeply about the traditional marriage and husband/children relationships. However, she felt called to step into politics and found purpose in Zionist Socialism. This purpose fulfilled her more than motherhood and being a wife, something a newage feminist would never understand.
When a woman has suffered as Golda suffered, has worked hard like Golda did on Kibbutz, has been deprived of family and tradition to find purpose, then and only then, can you understand this 'real woman'. Being an intellectual with a University degree is NOTHING if you have never suffered with the common people, trying to improve their lives just a little.
