I greatly suspect Leah had a crush on Jacob prior to him marrying her. She wanted to marry him otherwise why would she try to win his favour through out their marriage when he clearly didn't want her. At the end of the day Jacob stayed with Leah for convenience not love and she was probably insecure way before their marriage, maybe coz she felt disposable by her father.
