I occasionally lead tours of Jewish notables at Arlington National Cemetery. Rae Landy's resting place is a featured stop on that tour.

She was an amazing, courageous young woman who showed incredible initiative. She stuck it out when the older nurse bugged out as WWI started in 1914.

Wish I had a good photo of Rae Landy. The only one I've seen is in an old Hadassah magazine, where her face above the mouth is in dark shadow under her wide-brimmed hat.

The first tour was for the Southern Jewish Historical Society at the end of their 2007 annual conference. Subsequent annual spring tours have been for the Jewish Historical Society of Greater Washington.
