THANK YOU for including Lydia Joel in the encyclopedia for her influence in the dance world is little understood. I had the privilege of working as her editorial assistant at Dance Magazine from 1967-1969 and this bio helps to focus attention on her remarkable career. She was a king-and queen-maker in the dance world based on who she featured in the magazine and she was daring. I remember she decided to create a cover photo of two ballet stars of the NYC Ballet Co well after Martin Luther King's march on Washington. Why was Lydia daring? Mimi Paul was white and Arthur Mitchell was black. I was shocked what an outcry that caused amongst readers of Dance Magazine. Kudos to Lydia and to you.
