Hotel Terminus:The Life and Times of Klaus Barbie, Marcel Ophuls' magisterial film, reinforces the fact that Barbie's trial was about justice and memory for the children of Izieu. Interviews with Ita Halaunbrenner and Sabine Zlatin, among many others, are amazing living documents of human goodness in the face of horrific cruelty. Even more significant is the fact that Barbie's status as the executioner of Jean Moulin has been replaced by his ignominious title as the murderer of Jewish children. Furthermore, the Aubrac affair is recast, as Lucie Aubrac reminds those whose interest is solely in the Resistance as a masculine enterprise, that the children of Izieu are of primary significance, as are the women involved in their story.
