This book is a symbol of my childhood. In the 1970's I must have opened it thousands of times to study the illustrations and read the magical story! Somewhere along the journey of life, I misplaced my copy and the title escaped me. Thankfully, I have never forgotten the storyline or those bright, beautiful illustrations. After relentlessly searching bookstores and the web, I finally found the title, author, and illustrator. I was pleased to learn so much about Mirra Ginsburg. I had no idea that such a brilliant lady wrote this sweet story and that she adapted it from a Slovenian folktale. I was sad to learn that this book is out of print, but I was able to order a copy and can hardly wait to receive my order.

I would love to know more. Does anyone know specifically which folktale this story is derived from? Simply put, Mirra Ginsburg's Sun illuminated my childhood and continues to inspire me today.
