To say that “...Dianne’s mother’s family, the Rosenburgs, had a more distant relationship with Judaism. Some of them belonged to the Russian Orthodox church...” is an understatement.
In fact, “...her maternal grandparents, the Rosenburg family, from Saint Petersburg, Russia... of German-Jewish ancestry, they converted to the Russian Orthodox (Christian) faith, whilst there was a sizable religious Jewish community (in 1890: 15,331 Jews and/including 10,353 practitioners of the “Jewish language”).... The Grand Choral Synagogue (since 1893), a Rabbi (since 1863) for Jews, legally residing in Saint Petersburg. The Christian faith was passed down to Feinstein's mother, who insisted on her transferal from a Jewish day school to a prestigious local Catholic school, Convent of the Sacred Heart High School..”
To Feinstein’ credit, she consistently self-identified with Judaism.
