Benyamin, it says "To bring Vashti the queen before the king with the crown royal, to shew the people and the princes her beauty: for she was fair to look on." So even WITHOUT the Rabbis' commentary, the king wanted to show off Vashti's beauty, like an object to be gawked at by his drunken buddies. Nisht gut, either way.
