Sonia and Robert Delaunay left Paris in June 1940 for the South of France. They went to Mougins, between Cannes and Grasse. Robert, who was already ill before they left Paris, died in October 1941. She remained in the south and lived the remainder of the war with the Arps and Magnellis.
