The word "et" does not mean "with", in fact it is not a word at all, it is a grammatical marker preceding the noun that is the direct object of a verb. In this sentence "The Lord" is the direct object of kaniti, not Ish. It is the grammar that causes more problems with translation than any theological issues involved, because it is very hard to render it in Indo European while keeping "the Lord" as the direct object.
