Sometime in my random shopping at thrift stores and libraries, I collected the "Portal to Good Cooking: Women's American ORT Favorite Recipes," published in 1959 by Lake Region-North Region-Lake County Region Women's American ORT. It includes a wonderful "Somebody Goofed!" insert. Edited by Jeanne Pearson, Illustrated by Lou Peters. Appreciation to note: to "Priscilla Carr, B.S. who assisted in preparation of the cookbook" and "Jerrine Leichhardt, B.S. who prepared the menu chapter." Recipes were supplied by members of the ORT. I didn't know anything about this organization or its history. Today I decided to look it up and found the JWA entry on the WAO. I then looked up the topic of cookbooks, wondering if I'd see WAO cookbooks. I will put this book with my recently purchased "The Book of Jewish Food" by Claudia Roden. So much to be learned from COOKBOOKS!
