My maiden name was Gerri D. Sands. I was fortunate to move in to the residence in May of 1955. I was a student at Hunter College. I lived on the top floor, and moved in to a freshly painted, and new floor covering. I found that my trip from 225 E. 63rd Street to Hunter College that was located on 68th Street/Lexington Avenue, a most convenient location. I lived at the residence until the end of May, 1956, when I got married.. Many of the residents were students at Hunter, NYU, the American Academy for Dramtic Art, and other schools of higher education. The cost of living there was 10 dollars per week, and that included breakfast every morning. The kitchen was set up so each individual could prepare there own dinner at night. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay and friendships with the many young women that lived there.
