I would like to learn more about my great-grandparents who left the Ukraine c. 1890 and gave birth to my grandfather in/near Bombay in November 1893.

Would you know where I might find documentation of this event?  They were Jewish, so there would not be church records.

My grandfather always told my dad that he was born in the Rothschild Clinic, but I recently learned from a rabbi in New York that the Sassoons were sometimes called the Rothschilds of the East 100 years ago, and that maybe grandpa was confused and that it was a Sassoon clinic.  Is/was there such a place?  I would love to see a record of his birth if you know how I might find something like that.

Incidentally, many of Grandpa's cousins were born or married in Calcutta.  In the family "archive" are photos of the Tackles and Mingails (a brother and sister who married a sister and brother).

Thanks.
