I was looking for information for a class when I came across this entry for Amy Swerdlow. In 1973 I was a freshman at Sarah Lawrence and my Freshmen Studies Class was with Joan Kelly. Amy Swerdlow was one of my classmates at the time. I remember her well. She was an amazing person. She has always been an inspiration to me and, after all these years, as I teach my Introduction to Women's and Gender Studies I feel as if I am invoking Amy, Joan Kelly, and Gerda Lerner in my teaching. My students learn about the MA in Women's History at SLC and about Amy, Joan, and Gerda. I am so sorry to hear of her passing. She made a huge contribution to Sarah Lawrence and to the young women like me whom she schooled and inspired.
