I know it is 10 years later, but I was moved by your comment about Adele. It reminded me of what a blessing I had in knowing her. I thank God! I was rereading this article because she came up in conversation with a friend and I wanted to share about her life. I was a care giver in the last few years but had moved away the year she died. In fact she called and left me a message a couple of weeks before.; perhaps she was making ready? I had several dear gifts, a book she signed, a print by Nathan, and an apron which she had made. They are treasured still no less precious the things she taught in our day to day interaction. My love of Nakashima furniture ( not to mention the pleasure of living amongst hers!) Asian quilted art, a few wonderful books which I might never have read otherwise, and even some confidence in what to wear ( she was always free to advise haha), how to write more precise poetry and songs, politics and the NYTIMES, watching the fashion show “runway” and hearing her positive comments about who had real talent, even how to cook a lamb chop in a toaster oven and eat lox and bagels. Dear memories all! I would have worked for free! It certainly was my pleasure. So to anyone who may still see this 10 years later....thank you Adele. I pray, as I always did, that you rest with God in peace.
