The Power of Our Stories: Jewish Women's Archive Institute for EducatorsFrom July 13 — 17, 2008, the Jewish Women's Archive hosted an impressive cohort of educators from across the country at The Power of Our Stories: Institute for Educators. During this intensive professional development program, generously funded by the Dorot Foundation, 24 educators – together with scholars, oral historians, and master educators – explored themes and resources in Jewish women's history and learned creative techniques for incorporating women's stories into their teaching. Stay tuned for information on upcoming Institutes for Educators.
Community-based WorkshopsJWA's community-based workshops offer a half-day intensive, collaborative learning experience for formal and informal educators. Workshop participants are introduced to central themes in Jewish women's history, trained in using primary historical sources in the classroom, and familiarized with JWA educational resources, such as Making Our Wilderness Bloom, a flexible, 250-page curriculum for use in classes/programs on Jewish history, Jewish values, or leadership; Go & Learn, on-line primary documents and lesson plans; and Women of Valor, a poster series and accompanying web exhibits on notable Jewish women.
