Blanche Bloch

Blanche Bloch

Blanche Bloch helped open new opportunities for women in music as both a founding member and conductor of the New York Women’s Orchestra.

Jewish Women and Jewish Music in America

American Jewish music has expanded vastly in variety, range, and quality of activities. Jews brought to America their secular-folk and sacred-liturgical musical heritage. There has been a renascence of age-old traditions that have become means of self-expression for Jewish women.

Blanche Bloch

Blanche Bloch was a pioneer on behalf of women in music. Her efforts date back to the early 1930s when she was a founding member of the New York Women’s Orchestra.
