Carla Cohen wanted to create a charming and comfortable gathering place for the intellectually curious in DC. The Politics and Prose Bookstore opened in 1984 and today functions as a legendary center for progressive activity for readers, authors, journalists, and politicians in the DC area. Carla Cohen died October 11, 2010 at the age of 74.
