The artist Amalie Rothschild graduated from the Maryland Institute College of Art in 1934 with a degree in commercial art and fashion illustration. Born in Baltimore in 1916, Rothschild went on to become an accomplished painter, sculptor, and printmaker. The creator of more than 1400 works, 300 of which are in private collections and museums, Rothschild was best known for her innovative series of sculptural art which she referred to as the "Vestments." She died in 2001.
