Julie Rosewald lived at this location, prior to the San Francsico earthquake. A famous opera star, Rosewald retired to California with her husband to teach at nearby Mills College. She had barely arrived when she was invited to act as cantorial solist at San Francisco's Temple Emanuel, a position she retained for a decade, doing everything from singing at services to preparing Bar Mitzvah candidates.
