As a founding member of the Greater St. Louis Citizen's Committee for Nuclear Information, Dr. Louise Zibold Reiss (1920-2011) directed the group's first groundbreaking research project, known as the "Baby Tooth Survey." The study, which ran from 1959-1961, measured the levels of Strontium-90 in baby teeth in order to prove that radioactive fallout from above-ground nuclear testing was a serious public health concern.
