Jewish Women on the Map - Firestone High School

Library here is named for Judith Resnik, a 1966 graduate who went on to become the first Jew and the second woman to travel in space.

An electrical engineer by training, Resnik flew on the space shuttle "Discovery's" first mission. In 1986, she was killed when the shuttle "Challenger" exploded shortly after lift-off. She was 36 years old.
